Remodel Your Bathroom Without Renovating

by | Nov 29, 2021 | Remodels

Kitchen renovations seem to get all the glory, but a refresh of the room where you spend the most time devoted to personal care can have a positive effect on your everyday life.

Read more to learn about the small upgrades you can make that have a major impact.

New shower curtains

An easy fix such as a new shower curtain can have the biggest reward in such a small space.

Most people hang a standard plastic curtain in their bathroom, but it’s a lost opportunity.

Shower curtains are the perfect way to make a design statement.

Keep the plastic vinyl liner and hang a much nicer-looking, cloth, the curtain in front. This will dictate the whole vibe of the room.

Freshen up the tile grout

If you’ve scrubbed your grout many times and it still looks discolored, it’s time to replace it.

This is an easy do-it-yourself task. Consider using a different color or use a darker shade to add contrast to light tiles.

Use a handheld removal tool to gently scrape away existing grout. Then, mix your grout and apply using a spreader and finisher.

Change the hardware and reglaze the tub

Replacing the existing sink or tub can be well out of the price range. But adding new fixtures, like a faucet, is surprisingly inexpensive and really catches the eye.

It’s not a huge task to replace a faucet or showerhead, but unless you have basic plumbing skills, consult a professional to install the new pieces.

A budget-friendly option to make an old tub look new is to reglaze it. It’s a simple process that transforms it into a sparkling new watering hole.

If you want to add a warm and flattering cast to the room, swap old lightbulbs for ones that are slightly pink-tinged.

To add a sense of cohesiveness to the space, install a matching set that contains the essentials like a towel holder, toilet paper roll, and door hooks.

Choose white

Creative colors are nice throughout your home, just not the bathroom. A crisp white is best when it comes to making a small space seem larger.

Adding a fresh coat of paint is the simplest way to instantly transform a room and make it look fresh and clean. You can even paint outdated cabinetry for a more dramatic revamp.

Add backsplash

The vanity is a natural focal point of a bathroom. So why not add a little pizazz?

Consider adding a backsplash around your vanity. Not only will this protect your walls from high moisture, but it will also add character.

An actual tile application is always the better option but there are many affordable ways to do it yourself if this is out of your ballpark.

Look at your budget and determine what small changes you can make to your bathroom that have the biggest impact.
