Bring on the pumpkin spice, bonfires, and plaid everything! Now don’t get us wrong those things are great, but the fall season has so much more to offer and why settle for what everyone else does. Check out these looks that aren’t so … basic.
Separated Floor Plans
Open, open, open! Right? It seems like everyone these days wants an open-concept. However, that doesn’t really seem to be the case anymore.
Maybe it’s because the holidays are right around the corner, but there is a real demand for the “traditional layout.” Meaning closed-off kitchens, separate dining space, and living room. The great room is not as popular as it once was and is being replaced by a well-defined core entry, living, dining room, and eat-in kitchen.
Burnt Orange
Over the past few years color has really been in-style. So if you are sick of looking at your off-white lacquer walls you might want to go with something a little more autumn. Although burnt orange is treding dangerously close to the “pumpkin spice” territory, muted earth tones like rust, nude and beige have become the new neutral, and burt orange is a continuation of this trend. Burnt orange can instantly brighten up and room and breathe new life into your space.
Add burnt orange as an accent wall to create a bigger impact and feel more modern versus using this color in excess. Plus, if you don’t want to commit to painting an entire wall there are plenty of orange ceramics, vases, textured pillows, and other decorative elements to brighten up your home.
Suzani Prints
If you haven’t heard of suzani yet, you will soon be seeing this textile pattern everywhere. This is definitly the print of the season. Suzani is a type of embroidered tribal textile, usually cotton base, adorned with silk or cotton thread in various sun, moon, and floral motifs. Traditionally it’s made in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and other Central Asian countries, but you can find it online at Etsy.
This textile looks beautiful on a bedspread, hanging on the wall, throw pillow, window treatment, or bed canopy. It can also be sued to upholster furniture like chairs, benches, ottomans, and headboards.
