Try Tile

If you are bored of your brick fireplace you could try out tile for change. The glass tile that is typically used for kitchen backsplashes can be used to make your fireplace a true gem. The best part is for tile, grout, and two-sided sticky paper on which to place the tiles it came out to around $100.

Paint It Over

There are some people out there who see painting brink as a cardinal sin, but it can give your fireplace some flare. By painting the brick white and then add a little bit of gray chalk paint you can give your fireplace more depth and character. All these costs is a couple of cans of paint and a few hours.

Whitewash

Chances are high that you haven’t heard of “whitewashing” thanks to our lovely friends on HGTV. So why not apply that to your fireplace at home? If you have a boring stone fireplace that has looked the same for the last 20 years it could be time for a change. All it takes is some chalk paint and sponges, to transfer the mixture to the stone without drips.

Stack Some Stone

Make your fireplace go from meh to marvelous with the addition of floor-to-ceiling stone and a floating mantel. It draws the eye upward and gives the whole room a lot more character. Lightweight faux stone is available at home improvement centers for a fraction of the cost of the real thing and the best part is no one can tell it’s fake.
