Kitchen Renovation During the Holidays

by | Dec 1, 2016 | Remodels

A kitchen renovation is no small feet, and preparing a simple meal like a sandwich can become a painstaking process. During a full kitchen reno, typically all of your old appliances are moved out and you eagerly await their replacements. If your house is holiday hub for your family and friends you might want to consider doing this another time, but sometimes you don’t have a choice. A Thanksgiving kitchen fire would surely call for a whole new kitchen and those, unfortunately, don’t appear overnight.  So here are some tips to get you through a full kitchen renovation this holiday season.

Coolers Are A Blessing

Drag your tailgating cooler out from the garage and put it to good use. We suggest that you lay down a tarp to prevent water from getting on your floors, we wouldn’t want to replace those next. Once it’s clean fill it with perishable food items like lunch meat, yogurt, salsa, etc. Keep in mind that you probably won’t have a microwave or oven, so no frozen dinners.

Fire Up The Grill

Since you probably won’t a microwave or oven, a good substitute is a grill.  A grill is a good substitute for spending your money on McDonalds and Burger King just so you can enjoy a hot meal. You are also not confined to burgers and hot dogs either, think seafood, veggies, and even pizza.

Set It & Forget It

Crock Pots have gotten a serious upgrade in recent years. Say goodbye to the day of dried out pork roast, because the convenient cookers have quite the following. All you have to do is set it before you go to work and when you get home dinner is already made.

We wouldn’t suggest holding your Christmas dinner in the middle of a construction zone but at least you will make it through the renovation. At the end of it all you will have a new kitchen to enjoy, next holiday season.
